Binding OS X Services to Function Keys II

Last August I wrote about using FastScripts to bind OS X services to function keys. I had wanted to use Alfred but at the time it didn’t support assigning actions to keys. Now it does.

FastScripts has worked very well for me but, now that Alfred lets me launch things with function keys, I don’t need it anymore. It’s always good to remove software.

I spend most of my time in MacVim and the Terminal while flicking between Safari and Chrome. So, to make the common case fast:

  • F1: Terminal
  • F2: Safari
  • F3: Chrome
  • F4: MacVim
  • F6: iCal
  • F7: Paste Safari’s current URL
  • F8: Finder

I deliberately leave out distractions like Mail and NetNewsWire.
